Allen Jones Waitress

WE NEVER WRITE ABOUT THE SAME BOOK TWICE. ACTUALLY. WE ALWAYS WRITE ABOUT THE SAME BOOK TWICE IF THAT BOOK IS WAITRESS BY ALLEN JONES. THE MOST SUPER OF ALL THE SUPERBOOKS. GET READY. IT'S BACK.

Half bound in green Niger and hand made green marble covers. Not our usual explosive prose style but this is a special case. It is a special book. If we had to chose. We might well chose this. The archetypal superbook. Published in 1972. There were only 375 copies worldwide. Rarely seen. Barely seen. And beyond brilliant - obvs.

Allen Jones's then wife Janet. In a suit made by John Sutcliffe of Atomage  infamy. There are twenty-four of these posed portraits interleaved between the restaurant works by Tim Street-Porter. Time spent looking at them would not be wasted. They are beautifully composed.

Old school. Rules on Maiden Lane. Established in 1798. It is now London's oldest restaurant. There can not be a better setting for this photograph.

Pre-Photoshop. These are very good composites indeed. It is Dinos on Kensington Church Street. Janet wasn't actually there. But that isn't the point. She is in the picture. The picture is real.

Mike's Cafe on Blenheim Crescent, Notting Hill. We are not sure how this is possible but google "Allen Jones" "Tim Street-Porter" and "Waitress" and you won't find much other than the images we shot from the last time we wrote about this book. How something so SUPERGOOD can not be online is just amazing. Amazingly good, to be honest - real life has real surprises.

The book is completed by a signed Allen Jones lithograph. A woman sitting on a chair that's not there. That's more an observation than art criticism btw. See more of the book on this link . Buy the book on the button below. Be ready for a big price. We have just the one copy and it is the only copy currently offered for sale anywhere in the world. Where scarcity and world class quality meet.
